Unlisted Thoughts calls on the Youtuber CGP Grey (pictured below) to immediately cease changing thumbnails of his older YouTube videos.
YouTube thumbnails are a crucial part of a YouTube video. Some thumbnails are key to the identity of the video.
By continually changing his thumbnails in the attempt to chase more views, Mr Grey erases a part of the history and collective memory of his older videos. Worse, the new thumbnails can cause old fans to believe a new video has been uploaded where one has not.
Mr Samuel Lachs of Wilmington, South Australia expressed great sadness at the change in the thumbnail of Americapox: The Missing Plague. Mr Lachs fondly recalls the thumbnail which featured the Grim Reaper and the CGP Grey logo.

Deputy Commissar (Dispute Resolution) Justice Shakelady said:
“I like thumbnails like I like my capes: original and static.
“It is an utter tragedy—akin to the neckbeard—that the thumbnails change. This causes great harm to amateur archivists like myself.”
